Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest partners digital asset SMA Eaglebrook

ARK Investment Management LLC, an investment adviser founded by Cathie Wood, and Eaglebrook Advisors, a separately managed account platform, have announced a partnership that intends to boost investments in crypto strategies.

Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest and the digital asset SMA provider are specifically looking to advance access to Ark Invest’s two actively managed strategies – the ARK Cryptocurrency Strategy and ARK Cryptoasset Strategy.

A ‘Game changer’

According to the two companies, these strategies will be provided to customers of registered investment advisors as separately managed accounts.

Wood, currently the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of ARK, commented:

“Through our partnership with Eaglebrook, we now can offer actively managed crypto strategies to the wealth management industry. The strategies will be separately managed accounts (SMAs) designed to meet the needs of financial advisors, wealth managers, and their clients by offering direct ownership, low minimums, and portfolio reporting integration amongst other benefits.”

ARK’s Cryptocurrency Strategy is an actively managed portfolio primarily invested in the two leading cryptocurrencies by market cap – Bitcoin (BTC/USD) and Ethereum (ETH/USD).

The Cryptoasset Strategy, on the other hand, offers an actively managed portfolio of the top 10-20 coins across crypto themes such as top smart contracts, decentralised finance, and Web3 among others.

Roddy Chisholm, Chief Operating Officer of Eaglebrook Advisors said:

“We are thrilled to deliver Cathie and the ARK team’s digital asset portfolios in an efficient manner [SMAs] to everyday investors through our platform which is designed specifically for the wealth management channel. This is a game changer for the industry and yet another sign of mainstream adoption.”

Separately managed accounts (SMAs) are a portfolio of assets that are actively managed by professional investment firms. They offer access to an investment vehicle pooling securities such as stocks, bonds and crypto assets. If you need an alternative in the investment market, look into vehicles like exchange traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds – with a good place to start being to note their differences.
